ROMANIA: Significant Increase in Work Permit Quotas for 2019

Romania’s work permit quota for 2019 has been published in the Official Gazette (Part I, no. 80 of 31 January 2019) according to Government Decision no. 34/31.01.2019.
The Government has increased to 20,000 the total number of work permits that can be issued in 2019 to non-EU nationals, up significantly from 7000 in 2018.
This year’s quota has not been allocated by category of work permit.
Romania’s work permit quotas run from 1 January every year and are decided annually by the government, based on the proposals from the Ministry of Labour.
