ECUADOR: New Entry Requirements for Venezuelan Nationals

August 1, 2019

As announced in a recent decree published by Ecuadorian president Lenin Moreno, effective 25 August 2019, a visa will be required for all Venezuelan nationals entering Ecuador.

Further details are expected from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ecuador on the conditions and requirements for obtaining these visas within the next 30 days.

This change follows recent amendments to immigration regulations in other South American countries enforcing stricter entry requirements for Venezuelan nationals, with Chile and Peru introducing visa requirements for Venezuelans in recent months.

What has Changed?

Currently, Venezuelan nationals are able to enter Ecuador without restriction, carrying a passport or national identity document with a minimum validity of six months.

Up until 25 August 2019, Venezuelan nationals will continue to be able to enter Ecuador without restrictions.
